| Without their information technologies, many organizations would fail within days. Even a few hours of partial loss is an extremely expensive possibility. Disruption of computer- based information systems costs business enterprises thousands of millions each year. Information systems security and computer security are largely synonymous concepts that regard the protection of information technologies from hazards. These terms are sometimes used naively to regards hazards intentionally posed by disgruntled workers, juvenile vandals, or industrial spies. In practice, however, these these terms regard both accidental and intentional hazards because the effects of various protective measures impact both types of hazard. |
